Frequently Asked Questions
How do vermicomposting toilets work?
Vermicomposting toilets use worms and microorganisms to break down human waste into nutrient-rich compost. Urine is separated to reduce moisture and odor, while solid waste is processed naturally, turning into valuable soil amendment over time.
What are the council regulations regarding the installation of a vermicomposting toilet?
Thanks to the urine diversion system, EPA approval is not required. For private use, no council permit is usually needed — just check with your local council, as rules can vary.
How long does it take for waste to turn into compost?
Compostable waste typically breaks down in about six months with the help of our Tiger worms. However, please do not dispose any food waste in the tank — our worms are specifically meant to process human waste only.
What about the Tank ?
The tank is included in the package, so there’s no need to purchase or add one separately. As for its size, the standard dimensions are 2X1X1m, which suits most common setups and uses, can be adapted to other needs.
Do I need to add anything to the toilet to keep it working?
No, you don’t need to add anything to the toilet—it works naturally without the need for chemicals or additives. Simply dispose of toilet paper directly in the toilet as usual; the system is designed to handle it efficiently.
Who is responsible for installing the toilet?
We handle the installation process, and we provide a two-year warranty to ensure everything works perfectly.
Can vermicomposting toilets be used in cold climates?
Yes, vermicomposting toilets can be used in cold climates. Our models are designed to withstand temperatures as low as -35°C, ensuring efficient waste decomposition even in extreme conditions.
Can it handle high usage, such as in public or commercial settings?
Yes! Vermicomposting toilets can be designed for high-traffic areas with larger capacities and modular systems to handle more users efficiently.
What is the estimated number of uses the toilet can handle per year?
The number of uses depends on the model’s capacity. Some models can accommodate between 1,500 to 2,500 people per year, while others can handle 8,000 to 10,000 users annually.
How high is the toilet positioned from the ground?
The toilet is positioned between 10 and 20 cm from the ground. No need for digging big hole !
How do you clean the conveyor belt?
The conveyor belt is self-cleaning thanks to the built-in scraper. You can simply pour a bottle of water over once a month for an extra rinse if needed.
